In the News!
Lunch is served on Cinnamon Street. When families are rushing around the house, getting ready to start their day, they no longer have to pack a lunch box for their children attending Cinnamon St Childcare Center. As of September 1, the full day early education center was approved by the NH Dept of Education to prepare and serve a five component lunch to all enrolled children. The Naeyc accredited center has always served a USDA approved breakfast and afternoon snack, but decided to offer a full lunch program in an effort to provide even more support to struggling families. Not only is this new resource a time saver, but it can also decrease a weekly grocery bill, as well as ensure all enrolled children are eating at least two nutritionally sound meals each weekday. This extra service was greeted with sighs of relief from many of the parents, and it is provided at no extra cost! Children at Cinnamon Street Learn About Fire Safety. Captain Blood, Newport Fire Department, visited the Cinnamon Street Early Education & Childcare Center Tuesday October 13 to discuss fire safety. The children watched and listened intently as he displayed each piece of his gear, from his flashlight to the face mask. They learned to never hide when in a fire, but to be ready to answer when the firefighter calls for them, and to not be afraid of their appearance in the mask.
Children were able to point out to Captain Blood their evacuation exits as well as the meeting place at the flagpole. One preschooler noticed that his hat was white, when others were red. The Captain replied, "I worked a long time to earn this white hat!"
After the demonstration and discussion all the children were invited outside to explore the fire engine parked at the front entrance- in the Fire Lane!
