A Child's Day At Cinnamon Street
Colored Pencils

At Cinnamon Street, your child's day is filled with a variety of free play and teacher-directed activities. Each room has many different learning areas: blocks, library, science, dramatic play, puzzles, writing center and art activities that foster children's choice-making skills. Outdoor time is also a very important part of our day. Outside we can explore nature, run, climb, ride bikes, and play in the sand and water.

During the morning, we provide both small and large group activities. We work in activity centers and on class projects. We have "Circle Time" during which children learn new songs, chat with friends, or read a story. We have a healthy snack. We also spend time outside walking on our nature trails, playing on the playground, doing climbing activities, or playing non-competitive games.

After having lunch that we provide, cleaning up, and brushing our teeth, we have a rest and quiet time. After resting, it's time for another healthy snack, then "Choice Time", when children self-select an activity from a variety offered in the classroom. Afternoons also allow time for small group projects, or outdoor activities. Late afternoon brings some quiet time reading stories or playing quiet games. Many teachers use this time with the children to reflect on the happenings of the day and planning for tomorrow.
